Music

Music plays a very important role in our congregation, particularly in worship.  “Hearts Afire” is the name of our Chancel Choir.  “Sacred Tones” is the banner our handbell choir carries.  And we also have a Children’s Choir that participates in our worship services.

We have a Saturday Night Contemporary Service, each week at 6 PM.  Our director leads a band—usually a keyboard, guitar, bass, and drums; but we’ve had violins, saxophones, and more.

Everyone is welcome to explore participating in our choirs.  Hearts Afire can always use voices.  Practices are Thursdays at 7-8:30 PM.  You don’t have to be able to sing to play bells (some people say that you only need to be able to count—but it’s a bit more than that).  Sacred Tones practices on Thursdays from 6-7 PM.  Our children meet on Sunday mornings preparing for when they sing to the Lord.  There are pieces of music that require other instruments from time to time.  If you play an instrument, let the director know.  It helps in the selection of music.  The Saturday Night band usually gathers around 4 PM to rehearse, so if you play an instrument or would like to sing, come out.

During the summers we enjoy special ministries of music.  Members of the church and community share their voices and instruments (flute, violin, viola, dulcimer, etc).  So if you sing or play, and are willing, let our director know.
